Full Name: Loh Jie Qian ID: 18507 Date of Birth: 21 September 1994 Nationality: Malaysian Interesting Fact: I look older than I am, but my heart is younger than it is. E-mail: [email protected] Contact: 016 - 5980589 |
Contribution (First Project):
I am more to a recorder but also a moderator at the same time. I will always record the unsolved matters and problems that appear in our project and will constantly reminding them that we must get those matters solved by a specific dateline. This is to ensure that we will be on track. Besides, I came out with the designs of the power plant cards and the resource cards for our board game. I have helped out in coming out with the questions in CPDIC and PSLP too.
Reflection of KRD subject:
At first, I did not like this subject as I can’t keep up with the pace of teaching by Dr Suzana because it was too fast for me. Sooner after that, I manage to adapt the way of her teaching and find it quite interesting and I am able to understand the subject now. This subject allows me to recall back the chemical reactions, stoichiometry, Simpson’s rule and so on that I have learnt during my first and second year.
Reflection of PSLP subject:
I like this subject as Dr Zul has been lecturing us very well so far and I like all the assignments that he gave us in class. The assignments helped me in understanding more about the slides that he taught us in class. Throughout the lectures that I have attended so far, I can see that Dr Zul is a very dedicated and a lecturer full with patience. He will go to the students one by one to make sure everyone understands the materials that he teaches on that day.
Reflection of CPDIC subject:
This is the subject which I need to pay 500% attention in class. I would say that this is the toughest subject for me, as it requires us to recall all the mathematics such as ordinary differential equations and computational methods that we have learnt before. However, thinking in a good way, this subject is making full use of what we have learnt in first and second year. Dr Abbas is teaching well so far, but sometimes, I will still be miserable in his class because I could not understand some of the materials that he has been teaching.
Reflection of the board game:
I like the idea of my board game a lot. We started off our discussion with the very basic snake game and it transformed to a German board game and here it goes, transforming again, to an awesome CEO strategies board game now. My group mate got the idea of this game from a game named ‘Power Grid’. It is actually a confusing and complicated game. However, after simplifying and adding in some of our ideas in it, it is now an interesting and high-strategy-needed game. Going on to my team, I would say that I am very blessed to have such a cooperative team. Work is equally divided and it is always done before the dateline we set. I would say that this board game project is beneficial to us in the sense that we are able to work with different races and personality teammates and this eventually helps me in communicating well with others. I am sure this will be beneficial to my future career. Besides, I have learnt to design cards and power plants. Addition to that, the questions that we need to come out with have driven me forward to study all the subjects and be well prepared for the upcoming tests. Overall, this is the most interesting project that I have come across so far.
Reflection of question posed for KRD in the board game:
The questions related to KRD are quite relatable to the questions that Dr Suzana has taught us in class. Overall, I think the questions are answerable but it might take some time for them to solve it. Besides, I think the students will be able to have a clearer idea of what KRD is after answering the questions.
Reflection of question posed for PSLP in the board game:
I have also done part of the PSLP questions. I would say that the questions for PSLP will be much easier compared to the KRD and CPDIC. However, PSLP questions require more calculations compared to the other two. These questions will provide the participants a clearer picture of what was taught in class. I am sure participants will have a fun time answering the questions.
Reflection of question posed for CPDIC in the board game:
I have done some of the questions for CPDIC and they consist of different level of difficulty as we have questions with different levels of difficulty in the board game, which allows the participant to gain different amount of money throughout the game. I would say that CPDIC questions will be more difficult than the questions in KRD and PSLP as this subject is more difficult compared to the others. However, there are a few questions that are categorized at level 1 and 2 of the bloom taxonomy. Those questions are to assist the participants to gain some money in case he/she is not able to answer the tough questions.
Suggestions:
For KRD and CPDIC, I think we should be given more different types of questions to answer in class so that we will have a better understanding. Regarding the tutorial, I would also suggest the tutor to provide us the tutorial answers after the tutorial session in order to have a clearer picture of what he taught us in class.
For PSLP, I think probably the lecturer can spend more time to teach different types of questions in class.
As for the board game, I can say that it is beneficial to us in many ways. However, I would suggest lecturer to show us how to relate the questions with the three subjects as we have difficulty in coming out questions which are interrelated. Overall for the project, I am very satisfied.
