Contribution (First Project):
On my behalf, I was more to a skeptic role as I will ask for verification and validity of the board game ideas. My high curiosity caused me to think whether there is any other alternative ways to improvise the ideas. I also provoked suggestions for the rule and design of our board game. Besides, I was the one that responsible in creating questions for KRD and PSLP subject for the board games which the questions are required to be in a high-order-thinking form. It can be quite tough for me at first but I manage to complete it together with my teammates. As a whole, I could be considered as an analyzer as well as I was the one that pointed out the little and yet important details that sometimes my teammates might failed to consider. However, each of every teammate contributed equally in making this board game a success.
Reflection of KRD subject:
From this course, I found out that this subject is quite interesting and challenging. From the first four chapters that thought by Dr. Suzana, I have been exposed to various types of chemical reactors and the basic knowledge of designing a reactor. I also found out that it is very important to master these chapters because they serve as foundations and basics for KRD subject. So far, I manage to understand these chapters under the guidance of Dr. Suzana.
Reflection of PSLP subject:
I enjoyed leaning this subject very much because I’m able to learn many important technical fundamental of chemical process safety which it’s very essential for us as a chemical engineer. Besides, this subject is more stress-free compare to the CPDIC and KRD subject. This is probably due to our lecturer, Dr Zul who is so dedicated in teaching us and giving us guidance in this subject. Assignment will be given to us after every lectures and this method helps me to understand more about the materials that he had taught.
Reflection of CPDIC subject:
Among the three subjects, I found out that CPDIC is the toughest subject for me. Dr. Abbas is undoubtedly a nice lecturer who gives us guidance and advice patiently throughout the lectures. However I still have some difficulty in learning this subject because it involves many complicated equation as well as theories. This subject also requires me to recall and apply the mathematics skills that I have learnt during my first and second year. However I will overcome this problem by doing more revision and exercises.
Reflection of the board game:
This idea of board game is quite new and interesting so far because I haven’t encountered a project where we have to create a game. It really triggers our thinking and creativity and at the same time we are able to challenge ourselves beyond our limits. Besides, in order to create questions with different level of bloom taxonomy, we need to understand and master all the topics. Therefore, this board game idea is really beneficial to us as it gives us the opportunity in taking initiative to do revision and understand the subjects in depth. Going on to my team, I’m very proud to be one of them because my teammates are really awesome. Each of everyone in this team is very dedicated in our project and every task which assigned to the teammates is being fulfilled before the dateline. I think it is fun to work in a team.
Reflection of the question posted for KRD subject:
For KRD questions, I have done some questions from chapter 1 to chapter 4 which consists of different level of difficulties. Some of the questions will be quite easy and straight forward where players just need to define and derive equation whereas some of the questions will be time consuming where the players need to do some calculation and analysis before they can find out the correct answer. Overall, I think the players will prefer KRD questions.
Reflection of the question posted for PSLP subject:
I have done some questions and I would say PSLP questions are the easiest among the three subjects. It will involve many calculations which lengthy formula will be needed during the game. However, these questions will help the players to have a better understanding in PSLP subject and I think players will enjoy answering these questions.
Reflection of the question posted for CPDIC subject:
The questions related to CPDIC will quite difficult to the players compare to the other 2 subjects because it requires higher level of thinking. Honestly, it’s quite a hard time for us to create the questions because we don’t really understand the topic well. However we manage to help each other in understanding the topics and we are able to come out with some questions will different level of difficulties.
Suggestions:
For the board game projects, it undoubtedly brings many benefits to us as we can learn many technical skills and communication skills when we work in a team. However, it is time consuming as we need to handle a lot of things in short duration of time such as creating website, mind mapping and video shooting. I think it will be great and fun if we’re given sufficient period of time for us to complete this project. As for the 3 subjects, I would suggest lectures to discuss final pass year questions with us in class so that we can have a clearer view on those subjects and also adapt the technique of answering those questions.
